Energy harvesting promises continuous operation and low maintenance cost for deployments of wireless sensor networks. The resulting requirements of program scheduling with flexible time constraints and quality-of-service, however, are yet not covered by scheduling algorithms. Therefore, this dissertation enables time- and energy-aware scheduling of program structures and energy management with user-defined utility. The resulting methods and algorithms are compared against state-of-the-art approaches via simulation studies, testbed investigations, and real-world experiments. The algorithms have been published as open-source software, and will, as such enrich application variety for energy-neutral operation of sensor nodes.
