The on-demand ridepooling service “ioki Hamburg”, which is integrated into the classic public transit system, has been in operation on the northwestern outskirts of Hamburg since 2018. This article provides findings from a scientific evaluation of this service, conducted from 2018 to 2020. The results show that this ondemand ridepooling service is an impactful pre- and post-trip complement for public transit. Moreover, the effects of a so-called convenience surcharge, which has been levied for ridepooling use since April 2019, were investigated. This surcharge led, among other things, to a strengthening of the service as an alternative to car use.
