The topic of this Ph.D. thesis is the analysis of the wake and the effectiveness of the propeller of manoeuvring ships. The wake of drifting and yawing ships was determined with the help of RANS-CFD-methods. By analysing the propeller in the effective wake the dependency of the effectiveness from manoeuvring states was identified. With this dependency a manoeuvring simulation was enhanced. Results were validated with model and full scale measurements.
