After an introduction and an overview of the theoretical basics of the energy based finite element method (EFEM), two representative examples for its application are given and discussed in detail. The first example is the calculation of the sound pressure level in a generic model of a car cabin. The obtained EFEM result is compared to the result of a conventional boundary element method (BEM) calculation. In the second example the model of an airplane shell is used. Here the focus is placed on the structural validity of the suggested method whereby a finite element method (FEM) calculation is used for comparison.
