Local scale drainage measures (eg. SUDS, LID, WSUD) gain a growing importance in urban water management. These measures are defined on the local scale by multiple layers. Improved hydrological approaches are required to integrate these systems in catchment modelling. In this paper a method to integrate a detailed simulation of multi-layered systems in catchment modelling is presented. The Implementation is realized in a semi-distributed rainfall-runoff model. Laboratory physical model tests on the example of a green roof model are applied to validate the model on the local scale. The results illustrate the importance of modelling the local scale layer interactions.
