Seaports are the nodes in international maritime transport chains and play a significant role in cargo transportation by sea. Currently ports face new challenges and opportunities, due to new trends like the shipping industry integration, consolidation, and digitalization. The purpose of this paper is to provide a SWOT analysis of the redevelopment for the Port of Saint Petersburg and to propose an approach to this project. This paper deals with the redevelopment of the Port of Saint Petersburg using a Smart Port concept. The Smart Port concept is used as a modern approach to terminal development. This paper will also use an Enterprise Architecture approach, which could help to identify the benefits of different technologies for various types of port activities. The result of this paper is a thoroughly overview over challenges of the port relocation and to identify emerging threats and opportunities. Additionally, the paper will analyze and suggest best practices and solutions for the Smart Port concept implementation and their application to the redevelopment of the Port of Saint Petersburg. The relocation of a port can improve the popularity of the port but could also lead to new challenges. Careful planning and implementation of the different phases of the port redevelopment are necessary to make use of new opportunities and to establish a solid foundation for a sustainable development. The results of this paper could be used as an approach to create a unified holistic digital environment for the Port of Saint Petersburg, which increase its efficiency, environmental safety, and ensures a better port-city collaboration.
