In contrast to general education teacher training, vocational teacher training has to cater for a highly heterogeneous student body. Their professional biographical background is often characterised by an above-average age at the start of their studies, family obligations and the financing of their own livelihood as well as their own family, so that these student groups face particular challenges. are met at Leibniz Universität Hannover (LUH)2 with the “Platform for Teaching at Vocational Schools” (plabs) and a sustainable hybrid seminar concept. The learning platform is integrated into synchronous and asynchronous courses in the professionalisation area of vocational and business education (BWP) with the help of a three-step blended learning format. This three-step format, consisting of a basic phase, a discussion phase and a transfer phase for each thematic focus, was adapted to the changed conditions due to the Corona pandemic and further developed into a hybrid seminar concept. The hybrid concept contributes to making the study structures more flexible, to integrating the student groups in a practice-oriented way through the creation of digital teaching sequences and thus, in particular, to promoting the digital media skills and self-organisation of the prospective teachers.
