The thesis reports on the development of a numerical procedure based on the meshfree Smoothed-Particle-Hydrodynamics (SPH) approach for the simulation of complex port hydrodynamic problems including the interaction between ships, harbour facilities, water and soil. Corresponding constitutive models have been derived, implemented and validated. The regarded applications focus on scouring close to quay walls induced by active ship manoeuvring and propulsion devices. The developed procedure can further be applied to a wide range of problems from the field of marine and offshore engineering.
