For an economic design against stability failure of double-T pile of combined sheet pile walls, it is necessary to consider the resistance of the soil to twisting or buckling. Results from in situ tests are already presented in Part I of this publication [1] for the determination of lateral and rotational spring properties to represent the pile-soil interaction. To be able to consider the rotational bedding for other boundary conditions, the results of numerical simulations and analytical derivation of general rotational spring stiffness approaches are presented in this paper. The torsional stiffness in clayey silt is determined with the profile geometry, the consistency or pore number of the soil and the embedment depth. By applying these springs, the combined check against bending and torsional buckling of beams in the soil can be optimized.
