In this publication, a tool chain from heat-demand and geolocation data to an executable Modelica simulation is presented. The emphasis is on the network generation based on a shortest path algorithm, as well as on the modeling concept of the dynamic simulation. It can be shown that large-scale DHN can be simulated with Modelica. Moreover, the automatic development of those models significantly reduces operational effort.
