This paper examines the role of German public service media organization funk in the collaboration with journalistic content creators, i.e. media professionals outside its own organization who utilize social media platforms for content production and distribution. Drawing upon qualitative case study methodology applied to funk, which involved evaluating public and internal documents, conducting interviews, and performing field research both on site and in the digital space, this paper shows how funk engages with these content creators from their inception, through further development, to ongoing support. The empirical evidence illustrates funk's capacity as a catalyst, facilitating the transition of content creators from non-journalistic backgrounds or peripheries into the mainstream journalistic domain, as a result of the support provided by funk. Through this single case study, the article enhances the understanding of emergent media organizational models, thereby contributing to theory development within the realm of digital journalism organization
