A sol-gel approach for self-biased barium hexaferrite thin-film circulators
We present the design of a self-biased Y-junction circulator for Q-band applications. It relies on barium hexaferrite thin-films deposited by means of the cost-effective sol-gel method. The potential of the approach is first investigated in simulation based on a realistic material description. From this, critical design parameters are identified. This is followed by an experimental study. First encouraging practical results are reported. Steps for further performance improvements are discussed.
