This presentation shows the modeling principle of a desiccant wheel in Modelica. Furthermore, the challenges arising from detailed modeling of air and possible simplifications using air models from other Modelica-Libraries are shown. The model with the simplified air model is used to test a control strategy based on the results of a past second-law-based analysis. The results show that this type of control strategy works and can keep a DW-Based plant in a tight margin of operation while mantaining optimal operating conditions.
