In the context of this conference contribution, the possibilities for the production of commercial adsorbents were discussed at first. Subsequently, it was discussed to what extent thermal processes at relatively low temperatures up to approx. 250 °C can be used to change the adsorptive properties of various lignocellulosic biomass material flows. First results were shown for vapothermally treated reed grass. Finally, the disposal problem of loaded adsorbents was also addressed.
