Given a linear plant and a linear model, the partial model matching consists of compensating the plant so as to match several first Markov parameters of the model. A necessary and sufficient condition is given to solve the problem for single-input single-output systems using static state feedback. A simple design procedure is proposed which can incorporate the requirement of stability for the resulting system.
