Especially in the area of digital learning and teaching, numerous innovation projects have been and are being initiated at universities over the last two decades. The often critical question is how to identify potential for further implementation after the funding period has ended. The likelihood of success in the sustainable anchoring and promotion of university-based media didactics projects, especially with a focus on products and services outside the university itself, is generally low. This article discusses case-based scenarios for the sustainable anchoring of digital teaching-learning projects on the basis of three long-term projects at German universities. The three case studies have been selected in such a way that they pursue different strategies for sustainable embedding. On the basis of the exemplary case analysis, generally conceivable scenarios as well as success factors and conditions for the sustainable anchoring of digital teaching and learning projects in higher education contexts are shown.
