The present work deals with improving the Material Point Method (MPM) and its application to differential equations for modelling dry and saturated porous media. An adaptive regularization is proposed to improve the Moving Least Squares Approximation (MLS) in MPM, allowing improved results to be obtained even in the presence of unfavourable distributions of material points. Moreover, the Wendland function is proposed as a weighting function for the MPM, showing better convergence analysis results. The parallelization of the double point MPM (2P-MPM) is presented for a more efficient simulation of saturated soils.
