A digital factory is a good approach for optimizing value streams. Various aspects contribute to the design of digital factories - on the process side and on the product/system side. This ranges from machining centers to autonomous transport systems. Each of these products/systems must have a corresponding architecture that facilitates integration. Therefore, the system architecture design should not be neglected and is an essential part of the development process. With the methodical development of modular architectures, products/ systems are supported in their integration into digital factories. This article shows how the Integrated PKT-Approach for Developing Modular Product Families enables this.
