This work presents a 16 × 1 active module for phased array antennas at K/Ka-Band. The module relies on substrate integrated waveguide antennas in combination with commercial low noise amplifiers, beamformer chips, and mixers. It supports full-duplex operation for both left and right handed circular polarization. The required system components and networks are identified, laid out, designed, fabricated, and measured. They are combined with the antennas to yield the desired active module, which is then fabricated and experimentally characterized in an anechoic chamber.
