Engineered heart tissue in appropriate bio reactors can generate an artificial muscle with periodic contraction which can serve as a model for the screening of drugs. Apart from the realization of bio reactors in micro format various methods for the detection of the small signal of the contracting muscle have been investigated in order to analyze the effect of the drugs.
