This paper presents a contactless vital parameter sensing system for patients in hospital beds. It consists of four continuous-wave radio front-ends, independently operating in the 24 GHz ISM (industrial, scientific and medical) band, and a custom digitization board. The system is contained in a splash-proof housing, allowing it to be mounted under a hospital bed without reducing the patient's comfort or the signal quality. In this work, the basic operation principle is shown as well as the prototype setup and measurements of respiration, pulse waves and heart sounds in different positions with a person-under-test.
