In this paper a complete mobile sensor node which has the ability to monitor temperature, atmospheric pressure, relative humidity, brightness and magnetic fields is presented. Very low power consumption is achieved due to deliberate component selection, cyclic and/or on-demand-operation made possible by a low-power wake-up circuit with improved sensitivity, which allows the controller, transmitter and sensors to be in a battery-saving inactive mode for most of the time. Additionally, the sensor node can also be localized within a previously calibrated area.
