A simulation model for the prediction of corrosion damage on coated press-hardened steel and aluminium, which may be parts of the automobile body, is developed. The properties of the metallic alloys and coatings are measured with metallographic and electrochemical methods (polarization curves, galvanostatic dissolution, impedance spectroscopy). A new approach to model the influence of corrosion products on the corrosion rate is presented.
