    This method describes the determination of the loss of ignition (LOI) or the residue of ignition, respectively, of dry mass at 550°C. The LOI can be calculated from the difference of masses before and after the annealing process. The dry matter has been determined in accordance with method M02.008. The LOI or the residue of ignition is reported as percent of dry mass.

    M02.009 Determination of ash content of solid mineral fuels

    This method describes the determination of the ash content of solid mineral fuels. A previously dried sample (see also method 02.008) is gradually heated up to 815 ±10°C in absence of air to constant weight. Charcoal and charcoal briquettes are heated up to 710 ±15°C. The ash content can be calculated from the difference of masses before and after annealing and is reported as percent of dry mass.
