Item type:Project, Access status: without files , Near-field Acoustical Holography - a new sensor concept for methods of active noise reductionThe research hypothesis of the project comprises the development process of a sensor principle based on near-field acoustical holography for active noise reduction systems with structural actuators. The main objective is to extend sensor principles from the field of active noise and vibration control by inverse methods for sound field reconstruction. In particular, the influence of the inverse projection of sound field quantities on the stability of adaptive signal processing will be investigated. Compared to already existing approaches, an extension of the scientific knowledge is expected. The reason for this is that the use of acoustic sensors in conjunction with modern inverse acoustics methods enables non-contact observability of the sound field quantities proportional to the sound power in the near-field of arbitrarily shaped structures. Consequently, problems are avoided which arise because structural sensors such as accelerometers cannot be fixed as required. With near-field acoustical holography, a method is chosen which avoids costly measurements of transfer functions between sensor groups. For this purpose, only acoustic models are used, which results in lower uncertainties with respect to the model quality compared to the use of vibroacoustic models. Experiments are carried out in a transmission test facility, first on structural components that can be described analytically and then on complex structural components in the frequency range up to 1 kHz. This frequency range is typical for active noise reduction methods as a complement to passive measures, which are more effective at higher frequencies. Under free-field conditions, the Fourier transform-based near-field acoustical holography serves in the first step as a sensing principle for active noise reduction on a simply supported plate. With the relationship between the Fourier transform of the particle velocity on the plate surface and the directivity pattern of the radiated sound pressure into the far-field, the minimization of the radiated sound power is achieved. With the knowledge gained about the fundamental effects of inverse sound field reconstruction methods as a sensor principle on methods of active sound reduction, the experimental extension of the method to components with more complicated geometries will be carried out. The basic principles for the application of the investigated concept to cavities such as car or aircraft cabins are also to be developed. Therefore, in the last project phase the extension of the near-field acoustical holography-based sensor principle to sound fields in rooms is carried out by introducing reflection surfaces. Finally, comparisons will be made with conventional sensor principles for active sound reduction.12 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Project, Access status: without files , Smart Views: Intuitive and stakeholder-oriented Views in Model-Based Systems Engineering to Enhance Comprehensibility and AcceptanceModel-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) promises significant benefits in product development, particularly by improving collaboration and establishing a “single source of truth.” In practice, however, it becomes evident that many stakeholders outside classical system architecture and modeling roles struggle to understand complex MBSE models. This leads to acceptance issues and limited adoption by interdisciplinary teams. The present research project aims to develop smart views in MBSE that significantly improve comprehensibility and acceptance among diverse stakeholder groups. These views are intended to be characterized by intuitive readability, interactive adaptability, and dynamic visualization. In particular, the project focuses on the use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and SysML v2 to enable adaptive and user-centered visualization of model information. The objective of this research proposal is to develop a coherent framework for the creation and application of smart views in MBSE, capturing the needs, methods, and technologies required for intuitive and stakeholder-appropriate views, thereby increasing the comprehensibility and acceptance of MBSE among relevant stakeholders. The central research question (CRQ) of the project is therefore: “How can GenAI be applied in MBSE to develop smart views that foster increased intuitive comprehensibility and acceptance, and which concerns, requirements, technologies, and methods are essential for this purpose?” To address this question, an interdisciplinary approach is pursued that develops and integrates the individual components of the framework in two iterations.5 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Project, Access status: without files , Development simulator for validating the applicability of design methods for groups of product developers using the example of sheet metal constructionsDesign methods are often rejected in development practice. For example, the method does not deliver the desired results due to incorrect application, a high learning effort reduces acceptance or the abstract descriptions of the method make it difficult to use in practice. The validation of the applicability of design methods for groups of product developers, which examines the entire application process of the methods, including their comprehensibility and correct application, is lacking. The problem is that existing outcome- and process-based research methods for the validation of design methods are not yet linked to investigate groups of product developers as in industrial practice. In particular, metrics on the applicability and benefits of design methods are lacking. The aim of this research project is therefore the further development and evaluation of a live-lab simulator using the example of sheet metal design methods, so that it enables a realistic validation of the applicability of design methods for groups of product developers and provides findings for a targeted optimization of the design methods. To this end, an existing outcome-based live-lab simulator is to be further developed with the integration of a process-based research method in order to investigate naturally behaving groups of developers in complex, iterative development tasks. The further development of the live-lab simulator is to be evaluated on the basis of subject studies in order to validate the benefits for design practice and methodological research. Through comparison with laboratory studies, the research project provides insights into the strengths and weaknesses of these different environments for the validation of design methods.5 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Project, Access status: without files , Development of the interdependencies of agile methods for information flow design to increase flexibility and efficiency in the development of mechatronic systemsIn order to remain competitive, it is necessary for companies to transform creative ideas into innovative products in the shortest possible time. At the same time, they are increasingly confronted with the need to react quickly and flexibly to changing conditions in development and to utilise development resources as effectively as possible. Against this background, agile methods are also attracting more and more attention for the development of mechatronic systems, as they increase the ability to react in dynamic development environments and offer potential for exploring solution spaces for development. Studies show that the benefits of agile working lie primarily in the effects of self-organisation, the ability to learn and transparency in the development process. This technical management is particularly necessary due to the division of labour in the development of complex mechatronic systems in order to consolidate work results and provide the development teams with the relevant information to solve their specific tasks. Methods that support synthesis and analysis in terms of finding solutions are used in parallel, as they address technical-physical development. While development methodological relationships and the associated cause-and-effect relationships have been widely researched and are very well understood, the mechanisms of action for the successful use of agile methods to support technical management have not yet been sufficiently investigated or understood. The aim of this research project is therefore to develop explanatory approaches for the mechanisms of action of agile methods. This is based on the assumption that agile methods certainly provide benefits for development methodological considerations, but that additional approaches from project management and organisational sciences are necessary for a better understanding of the mode of action, as aspects of coordination and collaboration contribute significantly to the benefits of agile methods.13 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Project, Access status: without files , Development of an ontological model of PGE and a methodological support for the reduction of variation deviations and plan deviations in sheet metal designThe aim of the research project is to improve the planning of development activities through a deeper understanding of situations in which deviations occur between planned and actual variations of PGE - product generation engineering in sheet metal design. For this purpose, influencing factors in sheet metal design of new product generations that lead to deviations are identified and formally described in an extended model of PGE. Based on the analysis of real data, an ontological model is developed. In addition, variation and planning deviations are collected in the Live-Lab GSD - Generational Sheetmetal Development. These analyses lead to the design of a procedure to reduce variation and planning deviations in sheet metal design. This approach will be refined in a second iteration through an evaluation in a lab study and a live lab.13
