Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Alkaline induced indium gradient distribution in Znm In2 S3+m/In(OH)3 heterojunction for improved photocatalytic H2 generation(2020-11-15); ; ; ; Building a heterojunction composite which contains two or more semiconductors with matching energy band structures is an effective way to boost the photocatalytic performance. In this paper, a perfectly matching heterojunction constructed by semiconductors with a continuously changing energy band structure was demonstrated. It was found that migration of indium in layered ZnIn2S4 could be driven from the bulk to the surface under alkaline condition. Based on this, In(OH)3 was in situ grown on the surface of ZnIn2S4, and meanwhile, ZnIn2S4 was converted to ZnmIn2S3+m with m continuously variable. Due to the concentration gradient of indium, the conduction band (CB) of ZnmIn2S3+m/In(OH)3, which was formed by In5s5p orbitals mixed with Zn4s4p orbitals, displays a continuous change that can efficiently promote photogenerated charge separation and transfer.Publicationtype: Journal Article69 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Enhanced twisting degree assisted overall water splitting on a novel nano-dodecahedron BiVO₄-based heterojunction(2020-06-05); ; ; ; A novel nano-dodecahedron Bi0.5Y0.5VO4 solid solution with a diameter ranging from 20 to 50 nm has been prepared initially. The sample was characterized by XRD, SEM, HRTEM, element mapping, XPS, UV–vis spectrum, Raman spectra, Mott-Schottky and XPS valence band analysis to reveal its properties. Photocatalytic experiment exhibited that H-Bi0.5Y0.5VO4 exhibited a much superior activity than the P-Bi0.5Y0.5VO4 among overall water splitting. The enhanced twisting degree in hetero-Bi0.5Y0.5VO4 (H-Bi0.5Y0.5VO4), which reconstructed the internal electric field and thus promoting the photogenerated carriers migrating directionally to form the direct Z-scheme heterojunction, should be responsible for the improvement of the photocatalytic performances. Furthermore, it also contributed to the morphology edge formation, which could be another critical factor for improving the photocarriers separation efficiency after simulating the rules of charge distribution. Additionally, results also indicated that the co-catalysts Rh@Rh2O3 could unlock a new charge transfer channel in the procedure of photocatalytic overall water splitting.Publicationtype: Journal Article103 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Heterostructured Monolayer MoS₂ Nanoparticles toward Water-Dispersible Catalysts(2020-04-29); ; ; MoS₂ is a 2D semiconductor where exfoliation to a single layer results in improved catalytic properties. However, its high surface energy can lead to extensive aggregation, resulting in degraded catalytic performance and stability. Combined with a lack of dispersibility in water, this represents a pitfall for catalysis in the aqueous phase. Herein, we present the use of nanoscopic layered silicates pillared with a cationic surfactant to template the growth of MoS₂ in the interlayer space. This provides heterostructured layered nanoparticles ∼25 nm wide by 3-8 nm thick containing isolated MoS₂ layers. The resulting nanohybrids retain the disc-like morphology and surface chemistry of the clays, providing good aqueous stability, while also providing access to the catalytic edge-sites of the MoS2 layer. In addition to significant enhancement of catalytic dye degradation, molecular aggregation on the highly charged clay interface is comparable to unmodified clays. These particles are ideal for studies of charge-transport properties in confined semiconductor layers, as well as hierarchical self-assembly into functional materials. This study paves the way to colloidal synthesis of nanoparticulate heterostructures with other functional layered materials, particularly where particle exfoliation, covalent modification, and aqueous stability are concerns.Publicationtype: Journal Article203
