Publicationtype: Book Part13 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , A model-based approach for the methodical development and configuration of modular product families(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2023-08-31); ; ; This paper shows how a methodical development and configuration of modular product family concepts and their effects on economic targets can be implemented in SysML. For this purpose, different sources of inconsistency between different methodical tools are highlighted and the need for research is shown. As a solution approach, a methodical framework is presented, which can be used to implement product development methods for the developing of modular product family modeling by means of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) in the modeling language SysML. By applying the framework, it is shown on the one hand how a product family of vacuum cleaner robots as a simple example can be modularized in a methodical, model-based manner. On the other hand, a configuration system and an impact model of modular product families are connected with the system model and applied to a product family of laser systems as an industrial use case. This made it clear that the framework can be used to model various methodical topics of product family modeling in a consistent manner, to enable higher-level analyses with the use of MBSE tools. This can reduce errors, decrease effort and increase traceability across different methodical tools.Publicationtype: Journal Article75 141 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publicationtype: Conference Paper40 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Assessing the influence of digital innovations on the organizational design of product family generations(2022-10); ; ; The paper discusses increasing demands on product architecture and the resulting requirements and implications for organizational structure. Due to the rising conditions, the product architecture is increasingly developing into a complex construct in which transparency must be increased to continue developing products effectively. The approach of this paper is, based on the method of Design for Variety, a matrix-based modularization with the DSM and its extension to a cross-discipline multi-domain matrix to establish a reference to the organizational structure and to align it in a value-added way to good product architecture. This is done by an exemplary Investigation of the product family generation of a vacuum robot.Publicationtype: Conference Paper94 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Ansatz zur lastpfadoptimierten Gestaltung von Sandwichstrukturen mithilfe virtueller Tests und realitätsnahen Testaufbauten(2022-09); ; ; Approach for load path optimized design of sandwich structures using virtual tests and realistic test setups The design of sandwich structures is challenging due to the large number of constituents and materials used. Existing design approaches do not include the consideration of the occurring initial damage as well as application-oriented boundary conditions in testing and optimization. Therefore, a general approach to the design optimization is presented consisting of the four parts problem definition, physical test, virtual test and design optimization, as well as an initialization phase and subsequent iterations. An exemplary application is performed for the novel design concept of optimizing the geometry of the core filling. From the initial results, the potential of the new design approach becomes clear, which can be used as a basis for the design optimization of any sandwich structures.Publicationtype: Conference Paper58 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Modeling of an interface between system models and FEM models for the support of model-based development in modular lightweight design for aircraft cabins(Cambridge University Press (CUP), 2022-05); ; ; The modular lightweight design attempts to reconcile the partially conflicting goals between modularization and lightweight design in order to establish a harmonized modular hybrid design. This requires a close exchange of the resulting development data between the two areas. In this contribution a concept for an interface for the data exchange between system models and FEM models is presented and successfully implemented in the Cameo Systems Modeler and applied to examples from the aircraft cabin. With the interface the homogenization step of modular lightweight design can be performed.Publicationtype: Conference PaperScopus© Citations 1 92 132 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Methodical approach for the model-based development of aircraft cabin product families under consideration of lightweight and cost-based design(Cambridge University Press (CUP), 2022-05); ; ; Aircraft cabin monuments must be optimized in terms of lightweight design, cost structure and variance. Model-based approaches support the aircraft data and help to modify them consistently during further development. In this paper, a holistic methodological approach for product families of aircraft cabin development is shown, which integrates lightweight and cost-efficient aspects, in addition to the variance focus. For this purpose, the development of cost-efficient and ligthweight optimized cabin modules is supported in a model-based way.Publicationtype: Conference PaperScopus© Citations 3 68 75 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Model-Based Systems Engineering: Discovering Potentials for Methodical Modular Product DevelopmentA constantly growing market variety results in an increasing internal variety, which is reflected in increased variety costs. In order to cope with this situation, different methods for the development of modular product families and their modular product architectures were developed. During the implementation of these methods, different product data come together, which are linked in different tools. At this point, a document-based approach reaches its limits and inconsistencies occur. To counteract, the trend of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is being integrated into methodical modular product development. Using the example of method units of the Integrated PKT Approach for the Development of Modular Product Families, it is shown how the deposit of a meta model of product data enables consistency. The consistent model of the method units Design for Variety and Life Phases Modularization is extended by two elements: Configuration systems and the effects of modular product architectures. A configuration system based on this enables the efficient addressing of customer requirements in sales. The linking of the effects of modular product architectures strengthens the objective of Life Phases Modularization. Furthermore, the resulting consistent overall model generates several analysis options and opens up new possibilities, such as the establishment of Digital Twins.Publicationtype: Book Part96 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
