Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Approach for decentralized information systems in maritime logisticsDigitalization is playing an increasingly important role in the information flow of today’s supply chains. In particular, in logistics, the adoption of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing, blockchain, or machine learning offers the potential to increase data availability and quality. Using inter-organizational communication systems, private and public stakeholders can integrate their information flows. Within this paper, we analyze with transport planning, tracking, and cargo monitoring three use cases for the adoption of decentralized systems focusing on maritime logistics. For this purpose, a software artifact was developed using the Design Science Research (DSR) approach. During the development process, four central design principles could be identified: user orientation, interoperability, data security, and decentralization. Based on these principles, a concept was developed for a decentralized information system that contributes to further automation and standardization of the information flow, while considering requirements such as confidentiality, neutrality, and accessibility.Publicationtype: Conference Paper43 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Potenziale digitaler Technologien im Scope 3-Carbon Accounting(GITO mbH Verlag für Industrielle Informationstechnik und Organisation, 2023); ; Climate change represents one of the greatest challenges for companies. In order to be able to define strategies for decarbonizing their own business activities, the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions is necessary. In particular, the collection of data along the upstream and downstream value chain (Scope 3) is currently a complex, resource-intensive and often inaccurate process. Accordingly, there is a growing need for innovative solutions to improve scope 3 carbon accounting. This paper shows how digital technologies can support scope 3 carbon accounting.Publicationtype: Journal Article223 217 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Framework for the adoption of blockchain in maritime cold chainsPurpose: This analysis aims to develop a conceptual framework for the adoption of blockchain-based solutions in maritime logistics. Using the application area of maritime cold chains, we examine which characteristics are crucial for the use of blockchain and which requirements need to be met for adoption. Methodology: The method follows the approach of empirical data collection with expert interviews. From the interviews, a conceptual framework for the implementation of blockchain-based solutions into the maritime cold chain was developed using qualitative content analysis. Findings: Within the interview study, we identified the potential for the use of blockchain in the maritime cold chain in providing an open and neutral platform in which data from different actors are securely integrated. The adoption of the technology requires considerations regarding economic evaluation, stakeholder integration, process development, data security, and legal compliance. Originality: The implementation of blockchain in the maritime supply chain is a well-studied research area, but there remains a lack of the integration of data from the material flow such as sensor data. This research aims to fill this gap.Publicationtype: Conference PaperScopus© Citations 1 106 139 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Informationsaustausch in der maritimen Lieferkette : Untersuchung von Potenzialen und Anforderungen für den Einsatz der Blockchain in der maritimen Kühlkette(GITO mbH Verlag für Industrielle Informationstechnik und Organisation, 2022); Blockchain is seen as an enabler to increase the efficiency, transparency, and security of information exchange in supply chains. An important application area is maritime logistics, as blockchain facilitates the digitalization of documents and increases the efficiency of the processes. In this article, we elaborate on the example of temperature-controlled container transports the potential for adopting blockchain and the requirements to be considered from the technological and organizational environment.Publicationtype: Journal Article210 279 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Corona: Katalysator für Digitalisierung und Transparenz? : Eine Studie über die Auswirkungen der Pandemie(GITO mbH Verlag für Industrielle Informationstechnik und Organisation, 2021); ; The Corona crisis has an immense impact on the procurement situation in global supply chains, to which companies had to adapt quickly. The eff ects illustrate that to reduce risks, companies must deal with the structure and transparency in supply chains. The following article examines what knowledge the actors have and their intention to improve this through digitalization. The results show that companies have little knowledge beyond their direct suppliers but are increasingly able to access the needed data. Further, the results show potential for more transparency and the utilization of data.Publicationtype: Journal Article4588 4947
