Growing shares of intermittent renewable energy sources in power systems lead to temporal imbalances between supply and demand. In this thesis several measures to improve the power system stability and integration of renewable energies are investigated using a combination of linear optimization and system simulation. The results show that energy storages, demand response and flexible cogeneration concepts are suitable for this. Furthermore, the investigation of these measures requires a simulation approach that takes into account the interactions between the supply and demand as well as power system stability, which can be achieved by the developed simulation procedure.
