Immobilization techniques for the use of additively manufactured flow guiding structures and enzyme carriers in biocatalytic flow reactors have been identified and developed. Furthermore, structures for a counter currently operated hybrid bioreactor with in situ product extraction have been developed by means of rapid prototyping and used for the dispersion of an organic extraction phase and as an enzyme carrier. The directed and specific immobilization on additively manufactured materials via anchor peptides and the development of carrier and flow guiding structures have been shown and represent an essential step towards intelligent process solutions for continuous bioreactors.
