This dissertation demonstrates the implementation of coupled problem physics modes, and the subsequent testing of adaptive algorithms on the modes with higher complexity, by means of the Finite Element Method. The algorithms initially cover coupled h- and p-adaptation, and eventually a set of coupled hp-adaptive routines is also considered. Mild non-linearities in the test-problems are investigated. The numerical approach focuses on a single global equation system and a single mesh.
