Abstract (english): This paper describes a new pressure control strategy for AC motor driven pumps in aircraft application. Both, swash plate position and pump speed are used for controlling system pressure in a hybrid approach. The requirements for the pressure control loop and the design methods for the hybrid control circuits with a load observer are introduced. The new control concept has been implemented into an experimental set-up. The validation and evaluation of simulation results on the test rig are discussed in detail. Finally, the new hybrid approach is compared to the conventional approach concerning efficiency, noise level and wear for typical aircraft flight missions.
