Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Exploring NAS for anomaly detection in superconducting cavities of particle acceleratorsThe European X-Ray Free Electron Laser is the largest particle accelerator for X-ray laser generation worldwide. To ensure a safe and efficient operation, the plant uses various monitoring systems, especially in the linear accelerator. The low-level radio frequency system has shown reliability in diagnostics, particularly in quench detection. A quench refers to a superconducting radio frequency cavity losing its superconductivity and possibly causing a downtime. The diagnostics solution, however, can be enhanced in terms of robustness and functionality. Currently, the focus is on integrating artificial intelligence to improve quench identification. Thus, a lightweight machine learning-assisted approach targeting FPGA deployment is developed. It relies on the augmentation of a physical model-based anomaly detection approach with neural network models to distinguish the quenches from the other anomalies. This paper presents the solution in which neural architecture search is applied, and elaborates on how visualizing and analyzing the anomaly detection results can provide critical insights for both short-term diagnostics and long-term pattern identification.Publicationtype: Journal Article32 13 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Requirement analysis in medical phantom development : a survey tool approach with an illustrative example of a multimodal deformable pelvic phantom(Frontiers Media S.A., 2024-08-22); ; ; ; Introduction: Medical phantoms play a crucial role in medical imaging and therapy. However, the successful development of these phantoms heavily relies on a comprehensive understanding of the requirements specific to each application. Methods: In this paper, we emphasize the significance of requirement analysis in medical phantom development and develop a novel approach for gathering and classifying requirements specific for phantom development. Results: The implemented survey tool is designed to accommodate the diverse needs of stakeholders involved in phantom development, including medical staff, physicists, engineers, and product developers. To validate the effectiveness of the approach, we conduct the development of a multimodal deformable pelvic phantom, providing insights into the process and its applicability. Discussion: The results demonstrate the utility and reliability of our approach in systematically gathering, categorizing, and prioritizing requirements, thus facilitating the streamlined and efficient development of medical phantoms.Publicationtype: Journal Article28 42 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , The Peregrine breather on the zero-background limit as the two-soliton degenerate solution : an experimental study(Frontiers Media S.A., 2021-08-25); ; ; ; Solitons are coherent structures that describe the nonlinear evolution of wave localizations in hydrodynamics, optics, plasma and Bose-Einstein condensates. While the Peregrine breather is known to amplify a single localized perturbation of a carrier wave of finite amplitude by a factor of three, there is a counterpart solution on zero background known as the degenerate two-soliton which also leads to high amplitude maxima. In this study, we report several observations of such multi-soliton with doubly-localized peaks in a water wave flume. The data collected in this experiment confirm the distinctive attainment of wave amplification by a factor of two in good agreement with the dynamics of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation solution. Advanced numerical simulations solving the problem of nonlinear free water surface boundary conditions of an ideal fluid quantify the physical limitations of the degenerate two-soliton in hydrodynamics.Publicationtype: Journal ArticleScopus© Citations 12 149 329
