    Spherical perspective in design education
    The spherical perspective has not yet been widely introduced into design education. Its ability to serve as a meta-class model of vanishing point perspective systems, giving a teacher the opportunity to present approximations of the straight linear perspective models (with one, two or three vanishing points) all in one system, is presented in this article. The mathematical basis for a spherical grid as a curvilinear approximation to one-eyed human vision and a didactic approach for its integration into design oriented perspective freehand drawing are also discussed.

    The influence of frictional facing thickness on the contact pressure distribution of multi-disc dry clutches
    Frictional heat is generated when the clutch starts to engag. As a result of this operation the surface temperature is increased rapidly due to the difference in speed between the driving and driven parts. The influence of the thickness of frictional facing on the distribution of the contact pressure of the multi-disc clutches has been investigated using a numerical approach (the finite element method). The analysis of contact problem has been carried out for a multiple disc dry clutch (piston, clutch discs, separators and pressure plate). The results present the distribution of the contact pressure on all tShe surfaces of friction discs that existed in the friction clutch system. Axisymmetric finite element models have been developed to accomplish the contact analysis in this work. Thickness of the frictional facing of a clutch disc is a significant parameter that affects the elastic and thermal behaviors of a dry friction clutch. The results proved that the magnitudes of the contact pressure are increased dramatically when the thickness of the friction facing decreases.

    Effect of surface roughness on the thermoelastic behaviour of friction clutches
    The accurate computation of the contact pressure distribution is considered the main key to obtain the temperature distribution of the contact surfaces of clutch with high accuracy. High number of researchers in the thermoelastic field assumed that the contact surfaces of the automotive clutches and brakes are flat, and they do not take the actual surface roughness into consideration in the numerical models. In this paper, a new model of rough clutch disc has achieved to show the actual contact pressure of the new and used friction facing of clutch disc. The effect of the surface roughness of the used friction facing on the heat generated and the temperature fields are investigated as well. The comparison has been made between the results when assuming the surface is rough and when it's flat. Axisymmetric finite element model has been developed to study the thermal behaviour of a single-disc clutch system (pressure plate, clutch disc and flywheel) during the sliding period.

    Optimization of shape and design parameters of the rigid clutch disc using FEM
    (University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, 2013) ; ;
    A friction clutch is an essential component in the process of power transmission. Due to this importance, it's necessary to investigate the stresses and vibration characteristics of the rigid clutch disc to avoid failure and obtain optimal weight and cost. This work presents the numerical solution of computing the stresses and deformations during the steady-state period, as well as the vibration characteristics of the rigid clutch disc. Furthermore, new models for rigid clutch disc have been suggested. The response of the new suggested models have been compared to the reference model. The numerical results show that the stresses and vibration characteristics of rigid clutch disc can be controlled by adjusting design parameters. They show as well that the suggested models improve the response of the friction clutch considerably. The ANSYS/WORKBENCH14 and SolidWorks 2012 have been used to perform the numerical calculation in this paper. © Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Belgrade.
