Item type:Research Data, Access status: with files , Experimental results from multiaxial buckling tests on cylindrical CFRP shells with R/t-ratio of 147(2025-06-03); ; Buckling failure of cylindrical CFRP shells in combined load cases is only considered in few experimental studies, despite occurring frequently in both aerospace and civil applications. Hence, validation and verification of numerical models for these scenarios can be challenging. In this publication the thoroughly documented results of a large number of buckling tests with CFRP shells in multiaxial loading are provided, to support the validation of FE models and possibly enable the development of new design approaches. Extensive experimental campaigns on the buckling of small-scale cylindrical CFRP shells in multiaxial load cases were carried out on a set of nominally identical cylindrical CFRP shells. These shells were manufactured at the Institute of Composite Structures and Adaptive Systems of DLR in Braunschweig and have been tested in a previous campaign in pure axial compression. In this study, various combined load cases comprised of axial compression and bending, axial compression and torsion, as well as combinations of all three buckling inducing load types were investigated. This publication contains a separate sheet for each considered shell, listing for all individual tests the achieved buckling loads and the loading imperfections determined from measurement data as well as the mean values and standard deviation calculated per test point.Data Type: Experimental Data72 53 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Research Data, Access status: with files , A design catalogue supporting the selection of design approaches for axial loaded cylindrical thin-walled CFRP shells(2025-01-20)This catalogue was developed as part of Tobias Hartwich's dissertation at the TUHH. The dissertation concerns the support of the design of thin-walled cylindrical CFRP shells under axial compressive load. This interactive catalogue was drawn up to enable better selection of a design approaches for axial loaded thin-walled cylindircal CFRP shells. The assessment of the individual designs is based on the shells available in the literature since 2000 and the shells tested as part of the thesis and in [Har23] and [Har24], in particular. The catalogue is intentionally structured in such a way that it can be expanded to include further approaches. Individual design approaches can also be assessed again if new cylinder data is available on which an assessment can be conducted.Data Type: Technical Documentation57 34 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Research Data, Access status: with files , Geometric Imperfection Data of 7 thin-walled cylindrical shells with R/t-Ratio of 375(2024-05-30); ; The seven cylindrical shells were manufactured at the Institute of Composite Structures and Adaptive Systems of DLR in Braunschweig. .The measurement of the surface in order to determine the geometric imperfections was also carried out there utilising an ATOS system from GOM. The given geometric imperfection data is provided on the twelve excel-sheets in the form of Fourier coefficients of a double Fourier series in phase shift representation. The circumferential mode is described by full waves, the axial modes by a half-wave representation. In order to be able to map imperfections in the boundary zones of the shells, the cosine approach is taken.Data Type: Measurement and Test Data93 49 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
