Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Integration von Free and Open Source Software zur Optimierung von Energiesystemen in ein bestehendes Framework von Energiesystem Modellen(2023); The Transforming Energy Supply System (Modelling) Framework, or Tessif for short, is a framework developed with Python at the Institute of Energy Technology of the Technical University of Hamburg that enables the comparison of different software tools for modeling and optimizing energy systems. For the comparison, Tessif transforms a previously created energy system model into the model of the software tools integrated in Tessif, which then optimizes the energy system. The results of the optimizations are finally unified by Tessif and thus become comparable. Currently, the programs Oemof, PyPSA, FINE and Calliope are integrated in Tessif and can be used within the framework of Tessif for the modeling and optimization of energy systems. In the context of this work, Urbs, another program for modeling and optimization, is integrated into Tessif. The integration consists to a large extent of the transformation of the energy system model from Tessif into Urbs model formulation (es2es) as well as the conversion of the optimization results into Tessifs uniform representation mode (es2mapping). Herein, the various modeling approaches and their differences as well as the implementation of the transformation are discussed in detail. The correct integration of Urbs is ensured by comparing various example energy system models. In addition, the differences between the various software tools are elaborated. Finally, the results of the comparison are used to classify Urbs in the context of Tessif and to identify the advantages and disadvantages of using Urbs.Publicationtype: Master Thesis245 1014 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publicationtype: Bachelor Thesis222 976 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
At the Institute of Energy Technology as part of the Technical University Hamburg the python based framework Tessif, which aims to be a platform for a uniform comparison of softwaretools for modelling and optimization of energy systems, is being developed. In this context a model build in Tessif is automatically transformed into a model of an integrated tool and then optimized before the results are displayed uniformly. Within this thesis work the list of integrated tools FINE, Oemof and PyPSA is going to be expanded by another appropriate tool. In a comparison of different Tools, Calliope is being identified as an adequate tool and going to be integrated in Tessif. The main parts of the integration is the transformation of the Tessif model into a Calliope model as well as the restructuring of the results given by Calliope into Tessif ’s uniform data output. Not all Tessif models can be perfectly transformed into Calliope models due to differences in model parameters. Differences are pointed out and their impact is analysed. Opportunities to handle these as well as ensure a proper integration are proposed. With the help of chosen example models the correct integration of Calliope is ensured and differences between the compared tools are pointed out. The identified differences are going to be related to the already integrated tools, to derive specific use cases.Publicationtype: Master Thesis241 571 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
The Tessif project, in the context of which this thesis was written, provides a software interface that enables an automated and standardized comparison of software for the modelling and optimization of energy supply systems. So far, Oemof and PyPSA are included and to which an energy system formulated in Tessif can be passed for optimization. The approach is based on two functions individually developed for the software model, to perform pre- and post-processing of all relevant components, parameters and data to realistically describe the energy system. Tessif is designed to compare the respective results, optimized with the same basis and to work out distinctive differences. The aim of this thesis is to integrate the software model FINE and to examine first results concerning an example energy system. The main task is to develop the individual functions for the automated transformation (es2es) as well as the standardized presentation of the results (es2mapping). Software for the optimization of energy systems usually makes use of five basic components (source, sink, energy conversion, storage and transmission). That serve to formulate and investigate a wide range of research topics. The intention of the translation is to automatically transform all components available in Tessif into the FINE specific interface and make them available for optimization. The second function to be developed enables the standardized presentation of the results. Relevant is detailed information about generation and load profiles, installed capacities as well as energy flow related emissions and costs. Finally, the total costs and emissions calculated during the optimization can be used as a basis for testing results of the respective software and making them initially comparable. In addition, a scenario analysis was carried out in this thesis, using an energy system specially developed for the comparison, in order to verify the function and results of FINE. Overall, it could be shown that the integration of FINE achieves approximately the same results as the integrations of Oemof and PyPSA and therefore is correctly integrated. Minor differences could be identified, analyzed and, if possible, adjusted to make the software models behave identically. In summary, initial results demonstrated that the capabilities of Tessif have been improved and, based on this, a recommendation can be formulated in the future to determine which software achieves the highest benefit in which scientific energy sector.Publicationtype: Master Thesis459 697 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Entwicklung einer statistischen Methodik zur vergleichenden Ergebnisanalyse von Open Source Energy System Simulations Software(2021-10); The present scientific work was created in context of the project Tessif which provides a comparison of different "Free Open Source Energy System Modelling Software" (FOSESMS). The thesis develops a statistical method to differ the in Tessif implemented FOSESMS based on their results. This uses various statistical analysis methods such as Pearson correlation and cross-correlation in combination with model errors such as mean absolute error, mean bias error and root mean square error. Within two scenario an exemplary application of the method is then tested using the software tools oemof and PyPSA.Publicationtype: Bachelor Thesis178 296
