Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Quasi-lumped coplanar transmission-line sensors for broadband liquid characterization(2014-10); ; ; Quasi-lumped structures are used to develop two sensors based on coplanar waveguide transmission lines. The broadband sensors are fabricated using microsystems technology and are used between 1 and 35 GHz. A calibration method to determine the sample permittivity is adapted. The sensors are intended for the non-invasive characterization of biological cells. Saline solutions, water, and an ethanol-water mixture are used to experimentally verify the functionality of the sensors for this purpose. The simulated sensitivity of a quasi-lumped sensor is shown to be up to seven times higher than that of a conventional coplanar waveguide sensor. This hints at the miniaturization potential of these sensors.Publicationtype: Conference Paper219 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , High-performance radar imaging with sparse receiver array(2014-10); A sparse receiver array system based on a hybrid approach combining a two-stage-correlator with difference-pattern processing (DPP) is presented. With one sparse array and three dense arrays a thinning rate of more than 80% is demonstrated. The high resolution and low spurious signal generation of the two-stage-correlator are further improved by applying DPP with a suitable weighting factor. The performance of this approach is demonstrated by both simulation and measurements.Publicationtype: Conference Paper104 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Comparison of second-harmonic matching of AlGaN/GaN HEMTs at K-band(2014-10); ; This paper presents a comparative study of input and output second-harmonic matching applied to 0.25 μm Al-GaN/GaN HEMTs on s.-i. SiC substrates. The study focuses on the technology's use at K-band, which is close to the maximum usable frequency for high-power amplifier design. Four power amplifier MMICs using different second-harmonic matching schemes are compared in terms of PAE and output power. The results show the relative improvement of power and efficiency that is gained by the inclusion of second-harmonic matching in the design but also the impact on the power/efficiency bandwidth.Publicationtype: Conference Paper78 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Performance assessment and optimization of an active ka-band antenna array with polarization multiplexing(2014-10); ; An active 30 GHz transmit antenna array featuring digital beam forming and polarization multiplexing is presented. A fully equipped scalable module with 16 antenna elements is realized and tested. The active components and additional functional elements such as a temperature monitoring system are characterized. The radiation pattern is thoroughly assessed. The impact of mutual coupling is analyzed and a decoupled radiation pattern is presented.Publicationtype: Conference Paper107
