Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Actual practices for addressing requirements of digitalization in vocational education and trainingExisting research on digitalization and Industry 4.0 consistently shows a significant and lasting impact on social coexistence, economic development and work design. It is therefore becoming a central issue to analyze the technological, economic, social and work-related consequences in more detail in order to gain a deeper insight into the requirements to be expected. In this context, TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) becomes highly relevant to train skilled workers and make them fit for the changing industry. Answers should indicate which occupations and competences are relevant to the mentioned workers. The knowledge identified via empirical work will be used to draw conclusions about the effects of the changes of work on vocational training and leads to proposals for a future-proof and practice-oriented design of occupations in industry. The core of the qualitative and quantitative empirical survey was based on four research questions. For the study itself, occupational scientific instruments were used for surveys on the shop floor and qualitative interviews were conducted with the selected companies.Publicationtype: Journal Article17 13 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: with files , Das Leitbild einer nachhaltigen Kernberuflichkeit - Leitbild für die Berufsbildung(Institutionelles Repositorium der Leibniz Universität Hannover, 2026); ; ; A vocational education and training (VET) system relies on a guiding principle. The guiding principle of sustainable core vocational training presented here, which is fundamental to a future-proof VET system, aims to fill this gap. It seeks to outline the characteristics and principles of sustainable and thus future-oriented VET. It emphasizes that VET is closely linked to the profession and that relevant principles leading to a profession and its further development will continue to hold true. A balance between continuity and change is essential to maintain the connection between the VET system and the labor market while simultaneously integrating the new demands of a digitized and networked working and living environment. This guiding principle outlines the principles that should apply to VET leading to a profession. They should form the basis for all measures, programs, and regulatory matters and be further developed in the implementation phase.Publicationtype: Working Paper39 41 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Beruf und Beruflichkeit - Phänomene der Vergangenheit oder Garanten zukunftsfester Facharbeit(wbv Media, 2025-09-15); ;Felkl, Thomas ;Kaufmann, Axel; The high innovation dynamics associated with digitalization are leading to a trend towards higher qualifications and calling into question the importance of industrial-technical professions. Empirically, however, it can be shown that industrial-technical occupations contribute to supporting the digitalization process. Holders of occupations have a wide range of skills, which results in a high degree of flexibility for employees on the labour market. However, the occupational concept is only stable if it is able to absorb the changes themselves and provide answers to the changing requirements of the individual, society and companies. The article discusses the changes and their effects on industrial-technical occupations and criteria for a modern, innovation-promoting occupation. Theses are formulated for a future-proof dual system that produces such professions.Publicationtype: Book Part59 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publicationtype: Journal Article38 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publicationtype: Conference Paper27 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publicationtype: Journal Article23 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Access status: without files , Beruflichkeit – nur ein Mythos?Debates about the status of occupations and professionalism have been going on for a long time, but are being intensified by the influences of digitalisation, automation and artificial intelligence. The article evaluates these debates, transfers identifiable characteristics into a reference system for a new professionalism and uses this “instrument” to examine empirically found skilled work and qualifications at the shopfloor. It is worked out that a model for professionalism must itself include influences of deprofessionalisation. Then, professionalism and work organised in professions will not prove to be a myth, but a structure that continues to support individuals, gainful employment and society.Publicationtype: Journal Article22
