    MROPort for airworthiness checks in a future-proof environment
    (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 2023-06) ;
    In this paper, we conduct, how maintenance and repair aspects will affect future-proof operation perspectives from scenario definition and analysis, and how they can be implemented effectively in the holistic system of GBI for the AAM. Therefore, techniques were analyzed and evolved to ensure airworthiness, operation management, and robust modeling. Hence, we can derive MRO capacities. Therefore, we model the MRO aspects in the RCE tool MROPort. This tool depicts maintenance schedules, downtimes, and intervals. The downtimes are deciding to manage the whole operating system in the holistic system of the AAM. More holistic systems for the MRO will be created with the found boundary conditions of VTOLs and GBI. Furthermore, the space needed for the MROPort will be calculated. With urban management analysis, MROPort placement strategies and MRO downtimes result.

    Trajectory-related measures to mitigate the climate impact of aviation: a comparative study
    (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 2023-06) ; ; ; ;
    Operational measures play an important role to reduce the climate impact of aviation in the near future. Previous studies have investigated the mitigation potentials of such measures individually and based on specific boundary conditions. Thus, a direct quantitative comparison of different measures is not yet possible. However, a comparison of effectiveness and efficiency of these mitigation measures is required to promote their implementation in the air transport system. Therefore, a comparative assessment of different operational improvements based on comparable similar conditions is subject to this study. For this purpose, a defined set of trajectory-related measures is assessed in mission specific case studies. Measure impacts in terms of average temperature response as well as operational consequences are analyzed, so that results can finally be compared.

    Comparison between simplified approach and CFD & propagation tool for sonic boom estimation
    (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 2023-06) ; ; ;
    The following paper compares results obtained through a simplifying methodology that can be used at the conceptual design phase with results obtained through CFD and then propagation code for ground signature. The application of state-of-the-art models for future supersonic aircraft is discussed within the paper and solutions to overcome these limitations will be presented. Validation using CFD techniques and propagation tools is necessary to accurately define which design and flight condition characteristics most affect noise generation and propagation, as well as to integrate and improve existing methods in the literature with new formulations to estimate sonic boom at an early stage of design. The following workflow was validated for an aircraft with a Concorde-like configuration within the EU-funded MORE&LESS project.
