Netzorientierter Betrieb von Batteriespeichersystemen in Verteilnetzen
The change towards a more sustainable energy supply system requires the use of new technologies such as battery storage systems to support the power grid. This thesis develops a method for the simulative and experimental investigation of the operation of battery storage systems and for their technical and economical optimization . It appears that the combined provision of several services leads to an increase in profitability. In addition, it can be demonstrated experimentally in the laboratory that a reduction of the grid time constant can be compensated by using battery storage systems for frequency regulation.

Multiskalensimulation von mechatronischen Komponenten zur Anwendung in Hardware-in-the-Loop Tests
Due to more and more complex electronic control units in automobiles, the need for appropriate test capabilities is increasing. In this work a concept is developed, which meets the highly dynamic requirements due to the automotive devices. This is achieved with a parallel heterogeneous simulation architecture, where the different frequency components of the input signal are simulated in parallel on different hardware. Additionally, easy to parameterize generic models are developed. With an exemplary implementation a step size of 385 ns and a good agreement with real measurement data is achieved.

Regelungsverfahren für dieselelektrische Schiffsantriebe für hohe dynamische Anforderungen
On ships with diesel electric drive trains the power consumption of the prolusion motors has to be limited to prevent overloading of the diesel generators. As an alternative to the state-of-the-art limitation of the change rate of propulsion speed a dynamic limitation is developed that takes the current load acceptance capability into account. In this case the current load acceptance capability is computed using Hammerstein-Models that require only little computation work. Such dynamic limitation of the propulsion motors can improve the dynamic capability of the diesel electric drive train significantly.

The high temperature polymer electrolyte (HT-PEM) fuel cell technology is investigated with regard to its suitability for the electrical energy supply of marine systems. For this purpose, the dynamic and stationary behavior of a pilot fuel cell system is analyzed. For model calibration, experiments are carried out on a methanol reformer, which supplies synthesis gas for the HT-PEM fuel cell stack. A thermodynamic model of the fuel cell system (evaporator, methanol reformer, cell stack) with automation is created and operational parameters are simulated. Results between a diesel generator and an HT-PEM power supply are compared.

Growing shares of intermittent renewable energy sources in power systems lead to temporal imbalances between supply and demand. In this thesis several measures to improve the power system stability and integration of renewable energies are investigated using a combination of linear optimization and system simulation. The results show that energy storages, demand response and flexible cogeneration concepts are suitable for this. Furthermore, the investigation of these measures requires a simulation approach that takes into account the interactions between the supply and demand as well as power system stability, which can be achieved by the developed simulation procedure.

    Anlassen großer Asynchronmotoren in Schiffsbordnetzen
Starting asynchronous motors without frequency conversion means drawing high currents from the supply grid. In this thesis several measures (such as motor optimization, soft starters, autotransformers, slip-ring rotors and flywheel energy storage) are investigated and evaluated in comparison to a reference grid from a ship in order to reduce the current loading. Simulations and measured data show that the addition of a flywheel is an appropriate measure for reducing the power demand on the generator.
